Keynote: “Older, queer and proud: rethinking ageing through an interdisciplinary perspective” by Ana Cristina Santos at SOCIN2025, University of Macerata (Italy)

Ana Cristina Santos, Principal Investigator of TRACE – Tracing Queer Citizenship Over Time was the invited keynote speaker on the second day of the International Conference Rethinking Innovation: Inclusive Practices and Interdisciplinary Perspectives (SOCIN2025), hosted by the University of Macerata (Italy), where scholars and practitioners gathered to engage with the core themes of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA): multilingualism, artificial intelligence, inclusivity, and social justice.

Santos’ keynote lecture, entitled “Older, queer and proud: rethinking ageing through an interdisciplinary perspective,” drew on ongoing research developed within the ERC-funded project TRACE. Departing from queer older embodied knowledge, the keynote unpacked the complexities of LGBTQI+ life courses. This lecture explored the significance of queer experiences for understanding social inequalities, but also advancing science, strengthening universities, and inspiring innovation.

The keynote attracted local media attention, allowing the message on the importance of queer inclusivity and ageing research to reach a wider public in Italy. See here [in Italian].
