TRACE Principal Investigator Dr. Ana Cristina Santos participated as organiser and instructor at the European Sociological Association (ESA) PhD Summer School 2025, entitled “Minorities and Marginalities: From Discrimination Towards More Equal Societies.” The Summer School was hosted by the Università degli Studi di Palermo, Department of Cultures and Societies, and took place in Palermo (Italy) from 8 to 10 September 2025.

Ana Cristina Santos contributed to the session “Methods in Research of Minorities and Marginalities” with the lecture “Queering BNIM: the biographic narrative method in research about ageing, gender and sexual diversity.” Her intervention addressed the use of biographical narrative methodologies in research on ageing, gender, and sexual diversity, highlighting their potential for critically engaging with minority life courses.

In addition to her teaching role, Ana Cristina Santos was part of the Summer School’s organising and instructional team, alongside members of the ESA Executive Committee: Milica Antić Gaber (Slovenia), Nilay Kaya (Turkey), Marilena Macaluso (Italy), Maggie O’Neil (Ireland), Ana Vidu (Spain), Krešimir Žažar (Croatia), and ESA President Kaja Gadowska (Poland).
