Pako Chalkidis at 6th International Conference Sexuality & Social Work: “Ageing Queerly: Living Archives of Resistance, Struggle and Joy”

Pako Chalkidis – Greece
Title: An Archive of Flesh and Knowledge: Biographical Accounts of Ageing Queerly in Greece

Dr Pako Chalkidis brought the Greek case study to the 6th International Conference Sexuality & Social Work (Ljubljana, 1 – 4 July 2025), presenting powerful biographical accounts that weave together embodiment, memory, and activism.
These narratives – collected within TRACE – highlight how LGBTQI+ elders carry the legacies of social struggle in their bodies, acting as living archives of resilience and change.

This contribution was part of the panel “Ageing Queerly: Living Archives of Resistance, Struggle and Joy”, bringing queer ageing into the heart of the congress theme: Resilience and Resistance: Reproductive Justice and Sexuality in Social Work.
