From May 10-12, 2024, the Human Rights Section of the Academic Association of Coimbra – the oldest student union in the country – hosted the event “50 Years of April 25th, 50 Years of Freedom.” TRACE was present with an insightful discussion by guest speakers Ana Cristina Santos and Gustavo Mariano who presented on “Did the Revolution Forget LGBTQ+ People?” exploring the intersection of the Portuguese Revolution and LGBTQ+ rights in the year of the 50th anniversary of the Revolution that ended the longest dictatorship in Western Europe.
